Wolves put six-game win streak on the line this week at Seattle Pacific, No. 14 MSU Billings

THE WOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEK ...

The Wolves returned to GNAC play last week and extended its winning streak to six games after rallying to defeat Saint Martin's at home, 54-50. Trailing 18-14 at the half, WOU found its rhythm in the second half offensively and eventually upended the Saints. Cali McClave led the Wolves with 18 points to go along with seen rebounds and four steals while Kiylynn Dawkins had her fifth double-double in a row with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The six wins in a row is the most for WOU since 2001.

It was Dawkins' sixth double-double overall this season as she ranks 12th in the nation and second in the conference and is averaging 10.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 61 percent from the field (third in the conference). McClave leads the Wolves and is sixth in the conference in scoring at 15.9 points per game while leading the GNAC in steals at 2.6 per game.

As a team, the Wolves have a plus-3.0 scoring margin (65.8 points per game 62.8 ppg allowed) and lead the conference in rebounding margin at plus-5.9.

SCOUTING SEATTLE PACIFIC & MSU BILLINGS ...
Seattle Pacific is coming off a pair of losses to start 2024 - losing at Northwest Nazarene 50-47 on Thursday before falling at Central Washington 71-61 on Saturday to move to 2-2 in GNAC play as the Falcons have dropped four of their last five games. Olivia Mayer led SPU with 15 points and 13 rebounds against NNU and she led the team in scoring against CWU as well with 17 points. Mayer leads the team in scoring (13.2), rebounding (7.9), steals (1.6) and blocks (0.9). The Falcons as a team are eighth in the conference in scoring margin at minus-4.3 ppg (56.4 ppg, 60.7 ppg allowed). 

MSU Billings picked up a pair of wins on the road last weekend, beating Central Washington on Thursday 82-73 (Kola Bad Bear had 23 points, six rebounds, six assists, two steals and Dyauni Boyce had 22 points) and defeating Northwest Nazarene 81-52 on Saturday (Bad Bear had 16 points, Kortney Nelson had 14 points and five steals and Boyce had 13 points). Bad Bear leads the team and is fifth in the conference in scoring at 16.3 points per game while Boyce is seventh at 14.9 points per game. The Yellowjackets lead the conference in scoring (73.4) and are third in scoring defense (59.0) - making them second in scoring margin (plus-14.4).

SERIES HISTORY ...
WOU is 8-47 all-time against Seattle Pacific. The Wolves won the last matchup 57-52 in Seattle last season, but lost at home 70-61.

The Wolves are 9-30 all-time against MSU Billings. The Wolves dropped both contests at home to the Yellowjackets last season - losing 59-58 at home and 76-57 in Billings. Overall, WOU has lost three straight to MSUB and are looking for their first win in Billings since Feb. 17, 2018.
 
WOLVES NOTES
WOLVES HAVE A CHANCE TO BEAT RANKED OPPONENT SATURDAY FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2015
Western Oregon can snap a 23-game losing streak to ranked opponents when the Wolves hit the road to take on #14 MSU Billings. The Wolves last defeated a ranked opponent Jan. 22, 2015, in a 67-62 win at home over No. 8 Seattle Pacific.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE DAWKINS: THE  STREAK CONTINUES
Western Oregon's sophomore post Kiylynn Dawkins continues to become a force for the Wolves as she's put together five consecutive double-doubles and has six overall on the season. During her double-double streak, she's averaging 13.2 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. Dawkins also has scored in double figures for eight straight games - raising her scoring averaging from 5.7 to 10.2 points per game.

MCCLAVE HITS 1,000 CAREER POINTS & MOVED TO NO. 2 IN 3-POINTERS ON WOU ALL-TIME LIST
WOU senior Cali McClave reached the 1,000-point mark earlier this season and now sits at 1,085 points. She has a chance to reach the WOU all-time top five with Katie Torland (2007-10) in the No. 5 spot at 1,257 points. The all-time record is held by Leada Berkey (2004-08) with 1,558 points.

McClave also reached the No. 2 spot in 3-pointers made with 138 - passing Sydney Azorr (116 - 2014-18), Stacy Jepson (120 - 1989-92) and Shelly Potter (122 - 1992-96). The all-time record is held by Sara Zahler (2007-11) with 172.
