SEATTLE --- The Western Oregon women's basketball team rallied in the third quarter and led midway through the fourth, but came up short as the Wolves' six-game win streak came to an end at Seattle Pacific 57-52 Thursday night at Brougham Pavilion.
WOU (9-6 overall, 2-2 GNAC) trailed 27-20 at the half to the Falcons (6-9, 3-2) and by as much as eight before taking its first lead since early in the first quarter on a
Triniti Youngblood basket with 18 seconds in the third to make it 39-38 heading into the fourth.
The Wolves took what would be their last lead of the contest with 5:07 left in the fourth on a
Cali McClave 3-pointer to make it 45-44. SPU answered with a 7-0 run to take a 51-45 lead.
WOU got the lead back down to one with a
Kiylynn Dawkins bucket with 33 seconds left to make it 53-52. SPU split a pair of free throws with 19 seconds left to make it a two-point game, but WOU couldn't convert on its next two possession with a chance to tie or take the lead as the Falcons hit their final three free throws to put the game away.
McClave paced WOU with 23 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Dawkins was the only other player to finish with more than six points in the game as she finished with 11 to go along with five rebounds.
