BELLINGHAM, Wash. --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team capitalized on a penalty kick in the final 25 minutes and came away with a 1-1 draw against Western Washington on Saturday at Harrington Field.
The Wolves (2-3-4 overall, 2-1-1 GNAC) trailed 1-0 from the 13th minute until the 77th when
Kameron Wimsatt was fouled in the penalty area - resulting in a penalty kick for the Wolves.
Ally Beavers took the shot, putting it in the lower left corner to tie the match up 1-1.
WOU held on from there for the draw, thanks in large part to a season-best eight saves from keeper
Sophia Pierce. Overall, the Vikings outshot the Wolves 16-11 - including 9-2 on shots on goal.
WOU returns home next week as it hosts Montana State Billings 2:30 p.m. Thursday and Seattle Pacific 10 a.m. Saturday.
