MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon volleyball team defeated Linfield 3-1 (25-15, 25-14, 15-25, 25-15) Tuesday evening in non-conference action at New PE Building to pick up win No. 10 on the season and match their 2023 win total.
The Wolves (10-5) went 10-16 last season - the most wins for the program since 2016 and one more win will be the most since the team won 21 games in 2012.
As for Tuesday night, WOU controlled the first two sets - winning by double figures before Linfield (4-9) returned the favor by beating WOU 25-15 in set three. But WOU again regained dominance in set four as WOU finished the game on a 9-1 run capped by back-to-back aces from
Sidney Friesen.
It was a match where 17 players saw time for the Wolves.
Madison Hornback led the team with 11 kills and 14 digs while
Maela Honma had seven kills as 11 different players had a kill in the match.
Samantha Darby had a team-high 25 assists, Friesen finished with four aces and
Finley Buman had three blocks to lead WOU.
The Wolves return to GNAC play Saturday as they travel to take on Saint Martin's.
