LANGLEY, B.C. --- The Western Oregon men's basketball team lost to Hawaii at Hilo 89-69 Saturday at the CCA D-II Canadian Tip-Off Classic at Langley Events Centre.
The Wolves (0-2 overall) fell behind early to the Vulcans (2-0) before a
Trey Wilmot steal and
Anjay Cortez fast-break layup gave WOU momentum to start the half. The Wolves started the second half down 20 - getting within 14 points of the Vulcans after a
Jason Gallant three-pointer - but were unable to catch up.
Gallant had a team-best 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Braydon Olson finished with 11 points and a WOU-high three blocks.
Mario Williams Jr. had nine points while
Brady Grier had eight points and five rebounds.
The Wolves take the court again 12:45 p.m. Sunday against Cal State, San Bernardino to close out the Canadian Tip-Off Classic.
