LANGLEY, B.C. --- The Western Oregon men's basketball team fell to No. 14 Cal State San Bernardino 88-68 Sunday in the Wolves final game of the CCA Canadian Tip-Off Classic at Langley Events Centre.
The Wolves (0-3 overall) fell behind the 14th-ranked Coyotes (2-1) early, trailing by as much as 20 points before closing the gap back to single digits at the 3:09 mark in the first half on a
Jason Gallant bucket to make it 36-27 and eventually trailed 41-32 at the half.
WOu got within four of the Coyotes after a Gallant jumper with 14:46 remaining made it 47-43. However, CSUSB went on a 24-4 run to pull away for good.
Gallant led the Wolves in scoring with 16 points.
Brady Grier had 13 points - going 9-for-10 from the line - and had a team-high six rebounds.
Anjay Cortez ended with 11 points, two blocks and two steals while LaPierre finished with six points.
Makaio Morphy ended with a WOU-best three blocks.
The Wolves take the court again 5:15 p.m. Friday, taking on CSUMonterey Bay in Ellensburg, Washington, to start the GNAC/CCAA Challenge.
