WOU volleyball closes out season with loss at GNAC champ CWU

ELLENSBURG, Wash. --- The Western Oregon volleyball team dropped its match to Central Washington 3-0 (25-15, 15-13, 25-23) Saturday in Nicholson Arena to close out the 2024 campaign.

The Wolves (15-12 overall, 7-11 GNAC) dropped the first two sets to the GNAC champion Wildcats (18-6, 16-2) before starting set three out in front on a Madison Hornback kill. WOU held the set three lead till the middle parts of the set, when CWU was able to briefly take the lead up to 15-12. WOU challenged the lead back to 20-19, but the Wildcats were able to capture the lead for good, taking set three 25-23.

Chloe Asciutto finished with a .368 hitting percentage - tallying eight kills and one error in 19 attempts - while also recording five blocks (one solo).  Hornback had nine kills and two blocks, Finley Buman had four blocks and Samantha Darby had a WOU-best 16 assists.

Tonight's match marked the conclusion of the 2024 Wolves volleyball season - one that saw WOU with the most wins in a season in over a decade of play. In just year three with the program, head coach Kaiao Nahale-a led the Wolves to 15 wins on the season - the best since the program went 21-6 in 2012 - and the most wins in conference play since 2016 at seven.
