MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against Saint Martin's, 2-0 and 4-3, on Sunday at WOU Softball Field.
In game one, the Wolves (18-17 overall, 6-6 GNAC) fell behind 2-0 in the first inning against the Saints (20-15, 11-5), but got close to striking back in the third after loading the bases thanks to
Maddie Doig's hard-hit single to center followed by a walk and a hit-by-pitch. However, WOU was unable to capitalize on the opportunity.

Chelby Smalley and Doig all finished 1-for-3 for the Wolves.Â
Mackenzee Collins gets the loss for Western Oregon, going a complete seven and giving up two runs (both earned) on five hits with three walks and striking out seven.
In game two, the Wolves jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third when
Kate Ronning brought in a run after getting hit by a pitch, followed by an
Isabelle Lewis two-run single to right. The Saints answered back with a run in the fourth before getting three in the sixth to take the lead for good.
Ronning finished 1-for-2 with an RBI while Lewis finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Alivia Holden gets the loss for the Wolves after pitching three innings (in relief for starter
Erica Soliz), giving up three runs on three hits with five walks and four strikeouts.
The Wolves play again Friday at Central Washington starting at 1 p.m.
