Wolves explode for four goals in win at Northwest Nazarene

NAMPA, Idaho --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team broke loose for a season-high four goals as the Wolves defeated Northwest Nazarene 4-2 Saturday afternoon at NNU Soccer Field.

The Wolves (2-2-3 overall, 2-0 GNAC) fell behind within the first 63 seconds as NNU (1-5, 1-1) scored just over a minute into the game. But WOU answered in the 28th minute when Ciara Garcia scored on an assist from Lauren Rose to tie it.

The Wolves took the lead less than 10 minutes later when it was Garcia again scoring - this time in the 37th minute to make it 2-1. The score remained that way until the 59th minute when Haley King scored on an assist from Kameron Wimsatt to make it 3-1 WOU.

The Nighthawks didn't go away, however as an NNU goal in the 72nd minute cut the WOU lead to one before Savannah Taylor scored in the 81st minute to put the game away for WOU. The Wolves outshot NNU 12-6 in the contest - including 8-2 on shots on goal.

WOU hits the road again next week as it travels to take on Simon Fraser and Western Washington.
