PUEBLO, Colo. --- The Western Oregon men's soccer team bounced back from a loss to No. 2 CSU Pueblo Thursday with a 2-0 win over Jessup (CA) on Saturday at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
The Wolves (1-1 overall) took advantage of an early opportunity against the Warriors (0-1-1) as redshirt freshman
Michael Divano converted a penalty kick in the 10th minute to make it 1-0.
The score remained that way until the 68th minute when junior
Abraham Villalobos found the back of the net on an assist from junior Gonzaga transfer
Aidan Azavedo to make it 2-0.
It was more than enough as WOU held Jessup to just four shots - two on goal which were both saved by senior keeper
Andre Schlaefli as he picked up his first clean sheet as a Wolf.
The Wolves return to action at Azusa Pacific 7:30 p.m. Thursday before playing their home opener Sept. 16 (a Monday) against Hawaii Hilo.
