Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wolves play to a scoreless draw with MSU Denver on Sunday afternoon

MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon women's soccer team played MSU Denver to a 0-0 draw on a hot Sunday afternoon at WOU Turf Field.

Each team had their chances with the Wolves (0-0-2 overall) getting off 11 shots (four on goal) and the Roadrunners had eight shots (two on target), but neither could find the back of the net.

WOU's Sophia Pierce picked up the clean sheet, snagging two saves in her first shutout of the season and eighth in her career (sixth on the all-time WOU list).

Ten different players accounted for the 11 shots for the Wolves with Emma Smith being the only one with multiple shots (two).

It's the first time in program history WOU has started the season with two draws (Thursday's tie against No. 6 UCCS was the first time WOU had tied in a season opener).

WOU hits the road next week as they travel to California to take on Stanislaus State on Thursday and CSU Monterey Bay on Saturday.
