MONMOUTH, Ore. --- Western Oregon sophomore Maela Honma recorded the most kills by a Wolf since 2004, but the Wolves fell short in five to Alaska Anchorage 3-2 (18-25, 27-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-11) on Saturday at the Wolves Athletic Center.

Honma finished the match with 33 kills - the sixth most in WOU history, the second-most kills in GNAC history and the third-most kills in NCAA Division II this season.

WOU had the Seawolves on the ropes, taking two of the first three games before UAA won the final two to come away with the win.

To go along with her 33 kills, Honma finished with 26 digs and two aces. Chloe Asciutto had 13 kills and three blocks, Samantha Darby had a team-best 38 assists and Lauryn Johnson had a team-high four blocks to go along with six kills.

WOU hits the road next week to take on Simon Fraser and Western Washington.
