MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The 14th-ranked Western Oregon women's soccer team made history Saturday as the Wolves won their school-record sixth straight contest with a 1-0 win over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday at WOU Turf Field.
The victory for WOU (7-1-1, 4-0) breaks the 1997 Wolves team's record of five straight wins.
WOU took an early lead on the Nighthawks (2-6, 1-3) as
Alyna Slayter played a ball from outside the penalty area just to the left of the goal
Kaitlin Taylor put it away in the 10th minute.
From there, the Wolves' defense stood strong - including getting three saves from keeper
Bella Lopez, her fifth shutout this season.
WOU has allowed just two goals during its six-match win streak - outscoring its opponents 13-2 over that stretch.
The Wolves hit the road next week to take on Western Washington on Thursday and Simon Fraser on Saturday.
