COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. --- The Western Oregon women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season thanks to a near record performance from beyond the arc to beat Walla Walla University 91-51 on Tuesday night at Windemuth Court.
WOU (1-1) hit 14 3-pointers (going 14-for-24), one off the school record 15 set Jan. 14, 2017, against Montana State Billings.
WOU led 43-31 at the half - but got hot from behind the arc in the third quarter, going 6-for-9 to help outscore Walla Walla 28-5 in the period to pull away.
Kylani Rookstool went 5-for-8 from 3-point range and finished with 20 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists.
Ciona Wells went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and just missed a double-double with 16 points and nine assists,
Enid Vaifanua was 2-for-2 from long distance and had 16 points, five rebounds and three steals while
Triniti Youngblood filled the stat sheet wit h10 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists.
WOU returns to action 7 p.m. Friday when it travels to take on Willamette University.
