MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon men's basketball team led by eight at the half, but couldn't hold off Westminster in the second half and fell 76-68 on Friday night at Wolves Athletic Center.
The Wolves (1-2 overall) used seven first-half 3-pointers and strong defense to hold the Griffins (3-0) to 34.6 percent shooting from the field in the opening 20 minutes to build a 36-28 lead.
However, Westminster shot 55.2 percent in the second half to help outscore the Wolves 48-32 over the final 20 minutes to come away with the eight-point win.
Jadin Penigar led WOU with 19 points to go along with three rebounds.
Carson Frincke went 4-for-10 from 3-point range and finished with 12 points and
Noah Ogoli had 10 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists.
The Wolves get back after Saturday when they host Westmont at 8:15 p.m.
