MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The 20th-ranked Western Oregon women's soccer team blanked Montana State Billings 4-0 on Senior Day on Saturday at WOU Turf Field.
For the Wolves, it's their 11th win of the season - the most by the program since winning 11 in 2002 and just one victory off the school record of 12 set in 2001.
WOU will have a chance to tie and break that record next week as it heads to Burnaby, British Columbia, as the No. 3 seed as it will take on host and No. 2 seed Simon Fraser on Thursday. The winner of that match will take on the winner of top-seed Western Washington and No. 4 seed Seattle Pacific 2:30 p.m. next Saturday.
As for this Saturday, the Wolves scored in the second minute on a
Kaitlin Taylor goal assisted by
Savannah Taylor. The score remained that way until the second half when Taylor scored her second of the game in the 59th minute on an assist from
Alyna Slayter to make it 2-0. Freshman
Olivia Boger in the 76th minute on assists from
Kylie Jones and
Cici Garcia while
Ally Beavers scored in the 90th minute to make the final 4-0.
WOU dominated the contest, outshooting MSUB 20-3 in the contest - including 9-1 on shots on goal.
