Wolves get payback, beat Westminster in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY --- Earlier this season, the Western Oregon men's basketball team fell to Westminster in Monmouth. On Thursday, the Wolves got a little payback.

WOU led by double digits at the half and held off the Griffins down the stretch to pick up a 78-72 victory at Behnken Field House.

The Wolves (5-5 overall) used a 10-2 run in the final two minutes of the second half to build a 47-34 lead. Westminster got back within two at 68-66 with less than four minutes remaining before back-to-back Braydon Olson 3-pointers bolstered the lead back to eight and the Griffins never got closer than four the rest of the way.

As a team, WOU shot 53.8 percent from the field, including 48 percent (12-for-25) from 3-point range.

Jadin Penigar went 5-for-6 from 3-point range and led WOU with 27 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals. Olson finished with 13 points while Parker Baumann scored 12 points in 13 minutes of action. O'shen Cazimero had a team-high seven assists while Brady Grier led the team with eight rebounds.
