MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon women's basketball team held Alaska Fairbanks to 13.3 percent shooting from the field and cruised to an 82-24 victory Thursday night in the Wolves' GNAC opener at Wolves Athletic Center.
The Wolves (4-3 overall, 1-0 GNAC) led 35-8 at the half and pulled away with a dominant 33-3 third quarter to lead 68-11 going into the final quarter over the Nanooks (0-7, 0-1).
WOU went 14-for-28 from 3-point range - led by
Ciona Wells who went 5-for-8 on her way to a team-high 17 points, four assists and three steals.
Kylani Rookstool went 4-for-6 from 3-point range and finished with 16 points and four rebounds while
Triniti Youngblood had 12 points, went 2-for-2 from 3-point range, and added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
WOU returns to action 2 p.m. Saturday when it hosts 16th-ranked Alaska Anchorage.
