MONMOUTH, Ore. --- Western Oregon's
O'shen Cazimero wove through traffic and scored with 10 seconds left to lift the Wolves past Alaska Anchorage 69-68 Thursday night at New PE Building.
The Wolves (5-22 overall, 2-15 GNAC) and Seawolves (11-19, 4-13) were tied at 65 with 1:54 left after WOU's
Jahville Collins scored in the paint. UAA answered with a bucket on its next possession, but again Collins was able to get into the paint and score for the Wolves on their next possession to tie it at 67 with 1:16 left.
UAA split a pair of free throws with 25 seconds remaining to give it a one point lead and WOU called timeout. The Wolves got the ball to Cazimero at the top of the arc and the junior beat his man off the dribble and laid it up with 10.3 seconds left to give WOU a 69-68 advantage. The Seawolves had one last shot, but came up short and WOU came away with the win.
Jason Gallant led WOU with 18 points - going 4-for-7 from 3-point range. Collins finished with 10 points, Cazimero and
Mario Williams Jr. had eight points each with Cazimero adding a team-high four assists while
Brady Grier had a team-high 11 rebounds.
The Wolves play their final home game of the season 4:15 p.m. Saturday against Alaska Fairbanks - which can clinch a spot into the GNAC Championships after winning a four-overtime game Thursday night at Saint Martin's to keep its hopes alive.
