CLERMONT, Fla. --- Western Oregon's
Abby Stansbury tossed a one-hitter in WOU's 3-0 win over Clarion after dropping a 9-0 contest to Southern New Hampshire on the final day of the Florida Spring Games on Sunday.
In the win over Clarion, Stansbury only allowed a second-inning single in the contest - and while she walked six - worked around those to pick up her first shutout as a Wolf. The sophomore transfer from Eastern Nazarene added three strikeouts to move to 2-2 on the season for WOU (6-13 overall).Â
WOU got all the runs it needed in the first when an
Aaliyah Gaboriault groundout scored
Victoria Zimmerman in the first. WOU also got an RBI groundout from
Kate Ronning in the fifth and a bases-loaded walk to
Isabelle Lewis in the seventh to make the final 3-0.
Zimmerman finished 2-for-2 with two runs, a triple and two walks.
Hope Bodak finished 2-for-3 with a triple.
As for WOU's first game, a final box score hasn't been completed as of 6 p.m. (PT) on Sunday. Stats will be added when they are made available.
WOU returns home this week to begin GNAC action 1 p.m. Friday against Central Washington.
