Wolves rally in ninth to win game one, fall in game two to MSU Billings

BILLINGS, Mont. --- The Western Oregon baseball team used a seven-run ninth inning to beat Montana State Billings 11-8 in game one before falling in game two 6-0 on Friday at Dehler Park.

The Wolves (5-14 overall, 2-8 GNAC) led the Yellowjackets (16-10, 7-3) 4-3 heading to the bottom of the eighth with WOU taking the lead on a Collin Irwin RBI single in the seventh. But MSUB regained the lead 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth after scoring on a sac fly and a wild pitch.

With three outs left, the Wolves got a lead-off single from Zane Garvey, Ivan Ruiz dropped a sacrifice bunt to move him to second and Tyler Mohler hit a pinch-hit single to put runners on the corner.

That's when senior Owen Bischoff hit a two-run double to right center to give the Wolves a 6-5 lead. WOU scored two more on an error before Garvey hit a three-run triple to make it 11-5 as the Wolves held on for the 11-8 win.

Garvey finished 4-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, run and stolen base, Bischoff went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs while Ruban Cedillo hit a three-run homer early in the contest. Devin Bell had a strong start for WOU, going seven innings and giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits wit height strikeouts and three walks.

In game two, MSU Billings scored two in the first and never looked back for the 6-0 win. Garvey went 1-for-2 with a double and walk while Andre Jackson II was 1-for-3 with a double.

These two teams play another doubleheader starting 11 a.m. (PT) Saturday in Billings.
