LINCOLN, Calif. --- The Western Oregon softball team fell to Jessup (CA) 13-9 and 5-3 on Tuesday at Foskett Regional Park.
In game two, the Wolves (12-23 overall) took a 2-1 lead in the top of third inning after an RBI single from
Victoria Zimmerman followed by an RBI triple from
Kate Ronning. However Jessup (18-14) scored three in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good.
Zimmerman led WOU at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Alyssa Fullmer got the loss, going the distance and giving up five runs on eight hits wit hfour strikeouts and three walks.
In the first game, WOU tied a season-high in runs (nine) and set a season high in hits (15) and led 5-1 heading into the bottom of the second before Jessup scored four in the second and six in the third to pull away for the win.
Hope Bodak went 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs and an RBI,
Maddie Doig was 3-for-4 with a run and RBI, Zimmerman went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs,
Madelynne Hommel went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI while
Lexi Carlos went 2-for-3.
The Wolves close out their four-game California road trip with a doubleheader at Sonoma State at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
