ELLENSBURG, Wash. --- The Western Oregon baseball team lost to Central Washington 4-0 and 11-5 Saturday at CWU Baseball Field.
In the first game, the Wolves (3-11 overall, 1-5 GNAC) and Wildcats (10-7, 5-1) were scoreless until CWU scored a run in the fourth and anotherin the fifth to make it 2-0. The Wildcats added two more unearned runs in the eighth to make the final 4-0.
Devin Bell had a solid start for WOU, but got the loss after giving up two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and a walk in seven innings of work.
Owen Bischoff went 2-for-3 for the Wolves.
In game two, WOU fell behind 3-0 in the first before cutting the lead to one in the second after a wild pitch scored
Tyler Mohler and a
Danner Salisbury RBI single. But CWU scored five in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take an 11-2 lead with the Wolves' final runs coming on a Salisbury three-run homer in the sixth.
Salisbury finished 2-for-3 with four RBI and the home run to lead WOU.
Josh Johnson got the start and picked up the loss, giving up three runs on six hits with a strikeout and no walks.
The teams conclude the four-game series with a doubleheader starting at noon Sunday back at CWU Baseball Field.
