WOU baseball drops doubleheader at #24 Northwest Nazarene

NAMPA, Idaho --- The Western Oregon baseball team lost to No. 24 Northwest Nazarene 8-2 and 7-2 on Saturday at Elmore Vail Field.

In the first game, the Wolves (9-20 overall, 6-14 GNAC) went up 2-0 in the top of the first with a lead-off homer from Danner Salisbury and a John Oleson RBI single.

But the Nighthawks (27-10, 16-3) answered with two runs in the bottom of the first to tie it and took the lead for good with a run in the third, two more in teh sixth and three in the eighth to make the final 8-2.

Oleson finished 2-for-4 with an RBI while Andre Jackson II also was 2-for-4. Logan Larrance picked up the loss, going 3.1 innings and giving up three runs on six hits with a strikeout and two walks.

In game two, WOU once again took a lead in the top of the first - this time on a Collin Irwin RBI groundout. But NNU scored tied it in the bottom of the first with a run and took the lead for good with two runs in the second.

Zane Garvey finished 2-for-3 for the Wolves while Trey Nelson added a pinch-hit home run in the seventh. Jacob Memmott got the loss, going 5.1 innings and giving up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

WOU returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Central Washington.
