MONMOUTH, Ore. — Down 16 points at halftime, Western Oregon women's basketball flipped the script with a dominant second half to pull out a 67–63 win over Simon Fraser on Thursday night at the Wolves Athletic Center.
The Wolves (10-8, 5-5 GNAC) trailed 36–20 at the break but came out of halftime with renewed energy, outscoring Simon Fraser 26–16 in the third quarter to climb back into the game. Western Oregon finally took the lead for good at the 4:08 mark of the fourth quarter when Kylani Rookstool knocked down a go-ahead 3-pointer, giving the Wolves a 60–57 advantage.
Rookstool finished with a game-high 27 points, including five 3-pointers, and added timely free throws late to seal the win for Western Oregon. Triniti Youngblood chipped in 11 points, while Natalie Brown just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Simon Fraser (8-13, 3-7 GNAC) was led by Rachel Loukes' 23 points, but the Red Leafs were held to just 11 points in the fourth quarter as Western Oregon's defense tightened down the stretch.
Western Oregon hosts Western Washington on Saturday.
