Wolves Drop Tough Road Bout with Falcons

Seattle Pacfic scores three second half goals to clip Western Oregon, 3-2.

SEATTLE, Wash.--Host Seattle Pacific scored three times in a 16-minute span in the second half to take a 3-2 win over Western Oregon on Thursday night under the lights at Interbay Stadium.

The Win for the Falcons creates a three-way tie for second place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, with SPU, WOU and Northwest Nazarene all notched at 2-1-1. Simon Fraser rests in first place at 3-0-2.

The Wolves are now 5-3-4 overall and Seattle Pacific is 9-2-1.

Western Oregon scored first in this match-up on the road. Ignacio Brandan tallied a score for the visitors at 21:07, and that 1-0 score held until the halftime intermission.

But the Falcons stormed back after the break. SPU found the back of the net in the 52nd minute, at 62 minutes and in the 70th minute to flip the momentum switch. The Wolves would then climb back to within one score on Junior Ochoa's goal in the 77th minute to make it 3-2.

Western would fire three shots in the final five minutes of the game but not were on target, sending the Wolves to their first conference loss of the season.

The stat sheet was fairly even, with SPU holding a slight edge in shots (12-10), shots on goal (6-5) and corner kicks (4-3).

The Wolves will continue this road trip in Nampa on Saturday, taking on Northwest Nazarene at noon Pacific time.
