NAMPA, Idaho — The Western Oregon baseball team dropped both games of a GNAC doubleheader Friday to Northwest Nazarene, falling 14-13 in the opener before an 11-3 loss in the nightcap at Elmore Vail Field.
Game 1: Northwest Nazarene 14, Western Oregon 13
Western Oregon battled throughout the opener, erasing multiple deficits before the Nighthawks scored twice in the eighth inning to secure the win.
Tyler Mohler powered the Wolves offensively, going 2 for 3 with a home run, six RBI and a sacrifice fly. Chris Arce recorded three hits and scored twice, while Benny Nazario added a two-run home run. WOU totaled 13 hits in the contest.
Hunter Lutman (0-1) took the loss in relief, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing four runs on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Game 2: Northwest Nazarene 11, Western Oregon 3
In the second game, Northwest Nazarene used early offense to build separation.
Arce provided the Wolves' offense with a three-run home run in the fifth inning. WOU finished with four hits in the game.
Wyatt Rosales (2-1) took the loss, pitching 1.2 innings and allowing seven runs on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Western Oregon and Northwest Nazarene close out the series with a doubleheader beginning at noon Saturday.
