Wolves split doubleheader at Fresno Pacific on Friday

FRESNO, Calif. — The Western Oregon baseball team split a doubleheader with Fresno Pacific on Friday at Dan Martin Stadium, falling 6–1 in the opener before earning a 7–4 win in the nightcap.

Game 1 — Fresno Pacific 6, Western Oregon 1

Fresno Pacific took control early in the opener, scoring four runs in the first inning and holding on for the win over Western Oregon (2–1).

The Wolves were limited to one run despite nine hits. Chris Arce scored WOU's lone run, driven in by Robby Shepherd. Benny Nazario and Jayger Baldwin each finished with two hits, but the Wolves stranded 10 runners.

Shane Bailey was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) over four innings, while Ben Edwards and Aidan Melendrez combined for four scoreless innings in relief.

Game 2 — Western Oregon 7, Fresno Pacific 4

Western Oregon responded in the nightcap, scoring in five different innings to secure the split against Fresno Pacific (4–3).

Benny Nazario led the Wolves by going 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored, while Zane Garvey and Alex Harden each drove in two runs. Harden and Nazario both homered, and Jayger Baldwin reached base three times.

Wyatt Rosales earned the win, allowing one run on three hits over four innings with three strikeouts and two walks. Max Holden closed out the game to pick up the save.

The Wolves take on Fresno Pacific in the series finale Saturday.
