ELLENSBURG, Wash. --- The Western Oregon baseball team bounced back after dropping game one in walk-off fashion 5-4 to beat Central Washington in game two 6-3 on Friday at CWU Baseball Field.
The Wolves In game two jumped out to a 6-0 lead thanks to score at least one run in the first four innings - capped by a
Tyler Mohler solo homer in the fourth.
While CWU scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth to cut the WOU lead in half, it's as close as the Wildcats got thanks to a scoreless final two innings by
Hunter Lutman to pick up the save.
Logan Larrance got the start and went 3.2 innings and gave up two runs on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
Robby Shepherd finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run while
Gavin Shary was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In the first game, WOU trailed 4-1 heading into the eight before a Mohler RBI and a
Collin Irwin sac fly got the Wolves within one. Down to its final out and strike,
Alex Harden came through with an RBI single in the ninth to tie the game 4-4.
However, CWU scored a run in the ninth to win the game.
Shepherd against had a pair of hits along with two walks and a run while
Zane Garvey was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Ayden Holker got the start, going 6.1 innings and giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
The teams close out the series with a doubleheader starting at noon Saturday in Ellensburg.
