NAMPA, Idaho — The Western Oregon softball team dropped a doubleheader to Northwest Nazarene, 10-2 and 4-1, Friday at Halle Field.
Game 1 - NNU 10, WOU 2
The Nighthawks (29-16 overall, 9-9 GNAC) broke the game open with a four-run first inning and never looked back, sending Western Oregon (22-23, 8-10) to a 10-2 five-inning loss.
Reghann Fairbairn drove in WOU's only earned run on a single in the fourth. Fairbairn, Victoria Zimmerman and Madelynne Hommel accounted for the team's three hits with Zimmerman and Hommel each scoring a run.
Game 2 - NNU 4, WOU 1
WOU held NNU to just two hits in game two, but a four-run fourth inning did the Wolves in.
Braeli Martin (6-5) pitched six innings and held NNU to two hits to go along with five strikeouts and six walks.
Lexi Baumgartner plated WOU's lone run on a bases-loaded hit by pitch in the sixth.
Hommel went 2-for-4 and Jocelyn Rush finished 2-for-3 for the Wolves.
Western Oregon and Northwest Nazarene wrap up the series with another doubleheader 11 a.m. Saturday.
