Wolves beat George Fox 9-2 in midweek matchup in Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon baseball team took an early lead and never surrendered it in a 9-2 win over George Fox on Wednesday at WOU Baseball Field.

The Wolves scored a run in the first and two more in the third - capped by a Robby Shepherd RBI single - to take a 3-0 lead. The Bruins cut the lead to 4-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but the Wolves scored a run in the sixth on a Zane Garvey RBI single and four more in the seventh to pull away for the win.

Jake Farr was solid for WOU in getting the start, going four innings nad giving up a run on one hit with four strikeouts and three walks (didn't go the mandatory five innings for the win). Mac Garrett was credited with the win, going 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out two and giving up just a lone hit (getting the Wolves out a of a jam in the sixth inning). Gianvito Carriglio and Jesse Brown each tossed a scoreless inning for the Wolves as well in relief.

Chris Arce led the Wolves at the plate, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs. Garvey finished 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run while Tyler Mohler also drove in two runs.

WOU returns to GNAC action Friday when the Wolves travel to take on Central Washington.
