Wolves score 3 in final 20 to beat MSU Denver, 3-2, in opener

SALT LAKE CITY --- The Western Oregon men's soccer team opened the 2026 campaign in dramatic fashion, scoring three goals over the final 20 minutes to rally from a 2-0 deficit to beat MSU Denver 3-2 on Thursday.

The Wolves found themselves down 2-0 after the Roadrunners scored in the 56th minute.

However, freshman Archie Dhima came off the bench for WOU and gave the Wolves a spark - scoring in the 71st minute on an assist from Issak Abraham to make it 2-1. Dhima converted a penalty kick in the 78th minute to tie the contest before Ifancio Brandan scored on a Dhima assist in the 82nd minute to make it 3-2 WOU as the Wolves held on the rest of the way.

It was a testy first game with the teams combining for nine yellow cards and 28 fouls. While WOU was outshot 13-11 overall, the Wolves led shots on goal, 8-4.
