MONMOUTH, Ore. --- The Western Oregon men's soccer team picked up a draw in its home opener Thursday thanks to a penalty kick goal by
Archie Dhima to give the Wolves a 1-1 draw with Cal Poly Humboldt at WOU Soccer Field.
The Wolves (1-1-3) and Lumberjacks (1-2-2) played a scoreless first half before things got moving in the second half.
Humboldt scored in the 56th minute to go up 1-0 and the Wolves couldn't find the equalizer until Dhima was fouled in the penalty area. Dhima lined up the kick and drilled it into the back of the net for his team-best fifth goal of the season.
The Wolves outshot the Lumberjacks 18-4 in the contest, including 7-3 on shots on goal.
WOU returns to action 7 p.m. Saturday at home against Chaminade.
