AS A JUNIOR (2011)
Unanimous first team All-GNAC selection at safety…Tied for first in NCAA Division II with nine interceptions…Set the GNAC single-season record for return yardage with 243 yards…Ranks second on the GNAC all-time list with 15 career interceptions…Earned GNAC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice in 2011…Registered 58 tackles, including 31 solo stops…Returned an interception for a touchdown against Simon Fraser…Had an interception in three straight games…Also posted two tackles for loss and a sack…Had four pass break-ups…Recorded one fumble recovery…Also returned 10 punts with an average of 11.2 yards per return…Started all 11 games.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2010)
Named first team All-GNAC as a safety…Selected as the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 1…Finished tied for second in the GNAC with six interceptions…Led the league with two interceptions returned for touchdowns…Placed 18th in the GNAC and fifth on WOU with 58 tackles (38 solo)…Registered a career-high tackles against Central Washington in the season finale…Also had 2.5 tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble in the same game…Had an interception in three straight games…Blocked two kicks…Recorded a nine tackle game against Simon Fraser and eight tackle games in the opener against Simon Fraser and at home against Humboldt State…Finished the year with 5.5 tackles-for-loss, five pass break-ups…His 31-yard fake punt helped the Wolves avoid an upset at Southern Oregon…Started all 11 games.

AS A FRESHMAN (2009)
Played in all 10 games…Recorded 28 tackles (16 solo)…Had five pass break-ups…Posted one tackle-for-loss…Had a season-high five tackles against Humboldt State…Also posted four tackles games agaist Central Washington and Southern Oregon.

AS A REDSHIRT (2008)
Spent the 2008 season as a redshirt.

PRIOR TO WOU
A 2008 graduate of Crater High School in Eagle Point, Ore….Earned three letters in both football and basketball and two in baseball…Selected as a first-team all-league performer and defensive player of the year…All-state honorable mention in football… Played in the Les Schwab Bowl…Also named to the all-conference and all-state first teams in baseball as a shortstop.

Born in Medford, Ore….Undecided on a major but considering medicine…Father, Mike Peila, works for Medford Fence…Has an older brother, Mike Jr. (24).
