Biography
AS A JUNIOR (2007)
Ran in all six races for the Wolves…Recorded three top 25 finishes…Best finish came at the Saint Martin's Invitational as she placed 10th with a time of 19:33…Finished 11th at the Pacific Lutheran Invite (23:08)…Other top 25 finish came at the Western Oregon Summer End Invite as she finished 17th with a time of 20:53.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2006)
Ran in each race for WOU, crossing the line third for the Wolves at Pacific U (24th overall)… At Pacific Lutheran, she finished 14th and was WOU’s second runner…Was 23rd overall at St. Martin’s….Finished 24th at the GNAC Championships…Was Western’s top runner at the NCAA Regional Championship where she placed 35th overall, first for Western, leading the team to a ninth place finish…Had WOU’s best mark on the track in the 400 (1:00.35) and the 800 (2:10.61), and third in the 1500 (4:48.63)…The 800 mark ranks second all-time at WOU.
AS A FRESHMAN (2005)
Won the GNAC 800 meter championship as a freshman on the track...Had a season best in the event of 2:13.06...Also had the Wolves best mark in the 400 meters at 59.78...Howell’s 800 mark was third on WOU’s all-time list...Finished eighth in the GNAC indoor championships in the 800 meters...In the fall (2005), Howell was WOU’s fourth finisher at the GNAC championships, finishing 52nd overall.
PRIOR TO WOU
A 2004 graduate of Puyallup High School …Lettered four years in track and field and three years in cross country...Qualified for the state cross country meet as a senior.
PERSONAL
Born in Boise, Idaho...Health Promotion major, Biology minor...Parents are John and Nancy Howell...Father is a chaplain, Mother is an elementary school teacher…Sarah has two older brothers, Timothy (29) and Joshua (26).
