Matt Overlin

Matt Overlin enters his 23rd year with the Western Oregon coaching staff, where he's coached special teams the entire time while serving in various other roles - including his second year coaching linebackers in 2025.

He's coached numerous all-conference players and an All-American in Paul Revis (2017) during his decade-plus serving as wide receiver coach. During his time as a defensive back coach, he coached All-American safety Bryce Pelia (2011)

During his time at WOU, Overlin has assisted with the linebackers, defensive backs running backs and as an assistant recruiting coordinator. Overlin also spent two seasons leading the WOU strength and conditioning efforts, developing various programs for the Wolves football squad.

Overlin joined the Wolves coaching staff after a promising playing career at WOU was cut short due to a neck injury. Before joining the program as a volunteer assistant coach, Overlin lettered for two seasons with the Wolves. He graduated from WOU with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2006 before earning a master's in teaching in 2008.

Overlin starred at Brookings-Harbor High School where he was an all-league quarterback and standout pitcher in baseball.  He was also a third-team all-state selection on the gridiron in 1999.

Overlin is married to Amy and the couple has six children, Jadyn, Demi, Ozzy, Grace, Sam and Eve.
