Michael Harmon

Mike Harmon joins the Western Oregon University men’s basketball coaching staff for the 2021-22 year. Harmon arrives after spending time at UT Permian Basin and as a player development coach in the Houston, Texas area.

Harmon spent the previous year at UT Permian Basin serving as an assistant men’s basketball coach during the early parts of 2021 before moving to Monmouth to join the WOU staff.

Prior to moving his career into the collegiate coaching ranks, he started a player development program in Houston from 2019-21 where he trained pros, college and elite high school athletes. Some of the players he worked with include: LJ Cryer (Baylor), Justin Hill (Longwood), DK Thorn (Alcorn State), Jestin Porter (Tyler JC), Juan Hood (St. Thomas) and Ashlynn Jackson (Duke).

Harmon played professional basketball in three different countries (Kosovo, Slovenia and Hungary) after completing a four-year career playing at Paris JC, The Masters College and Northeastern State. During his senior season, Harmon averaged 19.2 points and shot 45 percent from three-point range.

Harmon graduated from Northeastern State in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Originally from Houston, Texas, Harmon played his prep career at Morton Ranch High School in Katy, Texas.
