Named to the GNAC All-Academic team for the second straight year…Played in eight games…Recorded eight tackles (four solo)…Had a quarterback sack…Broke up one pass…Had a season-best four tackles, including a sack and a pass breakup, at Dixie State.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2010)
Named to the GNAC All-Academic team…Played in six games…Recorded six tackles (two solo)…Had tackles for loss against Simon Fraser and Sac State…Had a career-high three tackles in the season opener again Simon Fraser.

AS A FRESHMAN (2009)
Played in three games.

AS A REDSHIRT (2008)
Spent the year as a redshirt freshman.

PRIOR TO WOU
A three sport letterwinner at Thurston High School in Eugene, Ore., earning four letters in basketball, four in track and field and three for football…Earned second team all-state honors as a defensive back…Selected as the conference defensive MVP…Named to the all-league first team as a wide receiver and defensive back…Played in the Les Schwab Bowl…Also earned first team all-league honors as a point guard in basketball…Was a hurdler and jumper for the track and field team.

Born in Eugene, Ore….Biology a major and Chemistry and Health minor…Parents are Scott and Karlynn Akins of Springfield, Ore….Dad is a police officer, mother does attendance at Thurston High School…Has one brother, Kraig, and one sister, KamBria.
