Brad Saindon

Brad Saindon has recently completed his eighth season as the head coach of the Western Oregon volleyball team. In 25 years in the collegiate ranks he has registered a 404-331 record.

The Wolves finished the 2015 season with an 8-21 overall record and 5-15 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Two student-athletes were selected to the All-GNAC Team, inlcuding Christie Colasurdo and Mariella Vandenkooy. In 2014, the team went 5-21 overall and 3-15 in conference play. Under his guidance, Hannah Deede received All-GNAC Honorable Mention for her performance throughout the season. During the 2012 season, Saindon led WOU to a 21-6 overall record as the Wolves finished in second-place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings with a 14-4 mark. Under his guidance, Krissi Kemper finished second in the nation in hitting percentage as she would become the first WOU volleyball student-athlete to earn All-American honors since the move to the NCAA Division II level.

In 2008, his first year with Western Oregon, he led the Wolves to its first-ever Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball championship with a 15-1 record and a 22-3 mark overall. WOU then advanced to the NCAA West Regional to represent the GNAC.

He came to WOU after five seasons as the coach of his alma mater, Arizona State. During his tenure he led the Sun Devils to the second round of the NCAA tournament and helped establish a new school-record for digs.

He served as the head coach of the University of Colorado (1986-1996), where he led the Buffaloes to, two Big 8 tournament championships, six NCAA tournaments and two Sweet 16 appearances during his 11 season at the helm.

Saindon received his start at Regis College in Denver, Colo. In his two seasons at Regis, his teams won a conference championship, was a Division II NCAA Tournament qualifier and recorded a 63-28 record.

Saindon has also spent time coaching volleyball at the international level. He was the head coach of the Australian women's Olympic and national volleyball teams from 1997-2000. He improved Australia's world ranking from No. 40 to No. 14 during his tenure and coached in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He has also spent two different tenures with the USA Men's National Team (1989-90 and 2001-2003).

Overall, Saindon has coached in all three of volleyball's triple crowns: the World Cup, the World Championships, and the Olympic Games.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona State in 1976 and his master's from the University of Oklahoma in 1984. While at ASU, he played on the men's club volleyball team. Saindon would go on to play on multiple amateur and professional volleyball teams.
