The act of sportsmanship during a Western Oregon-Central Washington softball game on April 26 won the 2008 ESPY for Best Sports Moment on Wednesday night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

WOU's Sara Tucholsky and CWU's Mallory Holtman and Liz Wallace were selected as the winners in a national vote of fans through the ESPN website. Other contenders in the same category were race car driver Danica Patrick and Boston Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester.

In addition, fellow WOU alum Kevin Boss and the New York Giants received two ESPY's on Wednesday night: one for Best Game and one for Best Upset, both for New York's upset of the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

The entire ESPY awards show will be shown on ESPN this Sunday (July 20) at 6 pm Pacific time.
