BELLINGHAM, Wash.
- Western Washington used a .264 to .084 hitting advantage to earn a four set victory over Western Oregon, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16 and 25-16, Thursday, Oct. 15.

The loss dropped the Wolves to 7-13 on the season and 4-5 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The win helped the Vikings keep pace in league as they improved their conference mark to 6-3 and overall record to 13-7.

WOU was hurt by 31 hitting errors to just 44 kills as WWU put down 55 kills with just 16 faults. "Western Washington played very well tonight," said WOU head coach Brad Saindon.

Senior middle blocker Laura Sakala led the club with a .389 hitting percentage (10-3-18). Danielle Reese was the kill leader for WOU with 12 but also committed 12 hitting errors. Other stat leaders for the Wolves were Cally Young with 24 digs, Amy Herron with 27 assists and Stephanie Beeler with three blocks.

"We had moments of brilliance but we couldn't sustain," continued Saindon. "We just had too many hitting errors. I think we are starting to get road weary; we are a very tired team right now."

The Wolves will have their bye this Saturday (Oct. 17) before returning to Monmouth for a four-match homestand. Seattle Pacific will kickoff the homestand Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7:00 p.m.
