MONMOUTH, Ore.
- Brittney Rigtrup matched a season-high with 10 saves but it was not enough as Western Oregon's upset bid against Great Northwest Athletic Conference leader Western Washington came up one goal short, 1-0, Sunday, Oct. 18, at the WOU Soccer Field.

The Vikings improved to 9-4-2 overall and 6-1-1 in the GNAC as they continue to hold a half-game lead in the standings. The loss dropped the Wolves to 4-9-3 and to 2-6-0 in the GNAC.

WWU was very offensive minded in the second period as it outshot WOU 19-2 and kept on the attack. The match's only goal came in the 58th minute when Molly Shannon was able to sneak a shot past Rigtrup in front of the net after a couple of quick touch passes.

The Wolves were on the attack early in the first half but could not break through with a score and went tied into the half at 0-0.

The Wolves will be home next Sunday (Oct. 25) to face Saint Martin's at 1:00 p.m.
