MONMOUTH, Ore.
– The Western Oregon University women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Saint Martin's Sunday, Oct. 25, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match on the WOU Soccer Field.

The loss drops the Wolves to 4-10-3 (2-7-0) on the season, while Saint Martin's improves to 9-7-0 (5-4-0).

Saint Martin's scored three of their four goals in the second half to pull away from Western. Juniors Jenny Baker and Jill Webb scored two goals apiece. Webb entered the game with seven goals on the season, good for fourth place in the GNAC in goals scored.

The Wolves were paced by freshman Marina Austin, who came off the bench and recorded seven total shots, five of which were on goal. Junior Rachelle Kliewer and freshman Kym Witmer each added two shots.

Offensively, Western Oregon had numerous shots come tantalizingly close to counting as goals. In the first half, freshman Cori Young attempted to head in a corner kick, but it ricocheted off of the crossbar and into SMU's goalie's hands. Austin attempted a shot from extremely close range in the second half, only to have SMU's goalie deflect it with a diving save.

Next up for the Wolves is a two-game road trip, where they will face GNAC members Northwest Nazarene and Montana State Billings. WOU will play Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 3:00 pm (PT) and Montana State Billings on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 11:30 am (PT).
