TURLOCK, Calif. - Western Oregon fell 6-4 to eventual champions Hawaii Pacific in the semifinals of the gold bracket at the Mizuno Tournament of Champions Sunday, Apr. 5.
The Sea Warrior put up three runs in the first and another two in the second to take 5-0 lead and their pitcher Sherise Musquiz would go the distance allowing just five hits and one earned run for the win.
Amanda Fleer was 3-for-3 for Western Oregon with three RBI and two runs scored. Her home run in the fifth brought the Wolves to within two runs at 6-4 but that is as close as they would get.
Jessica Wood took the loss as she gave up five runs (four earned) in an inning of work.
The loss dropped WOU to 15-15 on the season and eliminated it from the tournament.
Tyler Sutherland and Wood both earned all-tournament honors.
Western Oregon will continue its season at Billings next week as it takes on the MSU Billings Yellowjackets in a four-game series Apr. 10-11.
