SEATTLE - The second half once again was the downfall for the Western Oregon University soccer team as No. 1 nationally ranked Seattle Pacific scored five goals in the second period to win the Great Northwest Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday, Sept. 30.
The Wolves (2-7-3, 1-4-0 GNAC) were unable to break the Falcons' (10-0-0, 4-0-0 GNAC) shutout streak which now extends over 10 games and 900 minutes.
SPU notched its first goal in the 51st minute and would add four more including two in the 72nd and 73rd minutes to put the match away.
The top ranked Falcons outshot the Wolves 23-7 including six by Megan Lindsay. WOU was led in shots by
Rachelle Kliewer with three while
Sam Slezak and Kym Witmer added two apiece.
Brittney Rigtrup played the entire game in goal for Western Oregon registering six saves.
The Western Oregon soccer team will face another GNAC road challenge this Saturday as it takes on Saint Martin's at 3:00 p.m.
