[Meet results]
SEATTLE - Eleven members of the Western Oregon University men's track and field team placed their names on the school's all-time top 10 lists with strong performances at the UW Indoor Preview Saturday, Jan. 16.
Juniors
Andy Loscutoff and
Ashtin Mott highlighted the Wolves' performances in the season-opening meet, as both moved into third place on the school's all-time list. Loscutoff posted a time of 8.47 in the 60m hurdles to eclipse his career-best mark of 8.51 and move up the Wolves' all-time top 10 list. Mott moved from sixth to third place in school-history in the 400m dash with a time of 49.63. Mott's time was .08 seconds off the NCAA provisional qualifying standard of 49.55.
Matt McCrary made the biggest move in the record books, jumping up six spots in the 3,000m into fourth place all-time with a career-best mark of 8:46.64.
Freshman
Matson Hardie placed his name on two of the school's top 10 lists in both horizontal jumping events in his first career meet. He went into fourth place in the triple jump after clearing a distance of 46-5.25 (14.15m), while also placing second in the event at the UW Indoor Preview. He then moved into eighth in the long jump with a leap of 22-3.5 (6.79m).
The men also showed well in the mile where
Connor Kasler and
Dan Sprinkle both earned their spot on the Wolves' top 10 list. The freshman Kasler now ranks sixth all-time with a mark of 4:18.26, while Sprinkle moved into ninth place with a time of 4:22.61.
Bobby Alexander and
Dustin Boyd both placed their name on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list in the 60m dash. Alexander posted a time of 7.12 to move into a tie for seventh place, while Boyd stands alone in 10th with a time of 7.14.
Gabe Aguilar won the 60m at the UW Indoor Preview with a time of 6.99. Aguilar already ranks second all-time at Western Oregon in the event with a time of 6.96.
Josh Moore also earned a mark on the Wolves' all-time top 10 list after registering a time of 22.65 to move into ninth place in the 200m dash.
The men's 4x400m relay team of
Anthony Yakovich,
Shane O'Connell, Mott and Moore posted a time of 3:22.16, to move into 10th place in school-history, and cap off the men's assault on the record books.
"Despite the top 10 finishes we had mixed results on the day," said Western Oregon head coach
Mike Johnson. "Even though some (student-athletes) did very well even they thought they could be better."
The women's team also had four student-athletes earn their way on to the school's all-time list.
Freshman
Sarah Kathrein notched a time of 26.35 in the 200m to jump into fourth place in the record books.
Ashley Potter also moved to fourth place in school history, as she recorded a mark of 36-10.25 (11.23m) in the triple jump.
Kaitlyn Reid ran a time of 9.59 in the 60m hurdles to place her name seventh on all-time top 10 list.
Stefani Dittmar also matched her career-best time of 8.13 which ranks ninth in school-history.
"This was a good meet for us to shake our legs out," continued coach Johnson. "We are just getting accustomed to competing again."
The Western Oregon men's and women's track and field teams will be off until Jan. 29-30 when the team returns to Seattle for the UW Invite.
"This next meet will be tremendously competitive for us," noted Johnson. "It looks like we will have 13 to 15 (student-athletes) qualify with standards that are near Division I standards, and this is a testament to the depth of our squad."
