'Jackets score late to win 2-0

MONMOUTH, Ore. - In a tightly contested defensive battle, Montana State Billings was able to score two second-half goals to overcome Western Oregon 2-0, on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Heidi Greenback registered both goals for the Yellowjackets in a 12 minute span. Her first came in the 69th minute off an assist from Jaucelyn Richter. Her final goal came in the 81st minute.

The win moved MSU Billings' record to 10-4-1 on the season and to 7-4-0 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The loss dropped Western Oregon to 2-13-0 and to 1-10-0 in the GNAC.

Neither team was able to get many shots off due to the aggressive defense. The Yellowjackets managed just seven shots (four on goal) while the Wolves took four shots (two on goal). Cori Young and Chelsy Okuma had two shots on goal for WOU.

Western's women's soccer will travel to Seattle, Wash. to take on conference leader Seattle Pacific, on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m. The Wolves' last home game will be Saturday, Oct. 30 against Central Washington at noon.
