MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Western Oregon University soccer team hung with No. 13 Seattle Pacific throughout the first half but in the end the Falcons' offense came through with three second half goals for a 3-0 win on Thursday, Oct. 28.
The win clinched the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship for Seattle Pacific with a 10-1-1 conference record and a 13-1-2 mark overall. The loss dropped Western Oregon to 2-14-0 on the season and to 1-11-0 in the GNAC.
The Wolves were just unable to get good looks on goal as they were outshot 22-5, including 12-1 in shots on goal.
Marina Austin had three of the Wolves five shots.
Brittney Rigtrup was tested throughout the match by the 22 shots from SPU. She came up with nine saves. Megan Lindsay was the main offensive force for the Falcons with 11 shots (nine on goal) and two goals.
Maddie Dickinson and Brooke Yokers combined on the shutout, with Dickinson making the lone save.
Western Oregon will return home for its final home match of the season this Saturday (Oct. 30), against Central Washington. The game will begin at noon.
