SEATTLE
- Megan Hoisington scored 14 points and Daesha Henderson chipped in with 13 to lead No. 3 regionally ranked Seattle Pacific over Western Oregon, 64-44, Saturday (Feb. 13).

With the win the Falcons (18-3, 9-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) remained in second in the conference standings, while the Wolves (10-15, 5-6 GNAC) fell into sole possession of fifth place.

SPU shot 51-percent from the field (28-of-55) and held WOU to 33-percent shooting (15-of-46) in the win. The Falcons' biggest advantage came down low, where they outscored the Wolves 34-14 in the paint and had a plus-eight edge on the glass (35-27).

"They controlled the boards and the paint," said Western Oregon head coach Greg Bruce. "We didn't play hard enough or crisp enough against a very quality team."

The Wolves were down one point (9-8) seven minutes into the game, when the Falcons scored 10 straight points to seize control of the contest. Western Oregon would cut Seattle Pacific's lead to single-digits on three other occasions in the first half but each time the Falcons responded with a run.

"We were constantly playing catch up," Bruce noted.

Sara Zahler scored nine points to lead the Wolves. Hannah Whitsett and Lorrie Clifford each added eight points. Katie Torland was WOU's top rebounder with seven boards.

The Western Oregon women's basketball team will return home to host the Alaska schools next week. The Wolves will open with No. 4 regionally ranked Alaska Anchorage, Thursday (Feb. 18), at 5:15 p.m. They will then host Alaska Fairbanks as part of the WOU "Pink Out" Saturday, Feb. 20.

"We have to regroup for our homestand," continued Bruce. "We hope to put on a good show Thursday against a team that does many of the same things Seattle Pacific does well."
