MONMOUTH, Ore.
- The Western Oregon University softball team finished the 2010 season with the second-most wins in the history of the program. Despite losing both games to Central Washington, 12-1 and 1-0, on Saturday, May 8, the Wolves completed just the fifth 30-win campaign in the history of the school and their most since winning 33 in 2008.

Western Oregon placed second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings with a league record of 26-14 and a 32-21 mark overall. Central Washington ended the season by winning 13 straight games to capture the GNAC regular season title with league record of 32-8 (37-13 overall).

Game 1
The first five batters of the game scored for the Wildcats and Samantha Petrich added two two-run homers for the CWU, as it went on to win game one 12-1 in five innings.

Petrich finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI. Meghan Kopczynski added a two-run homer of her own to go along with three runs batted in.

Lauren Hadenfeld pitched a complete game, giving up one run and three hits while striking out five to improve her record to 21-4 on the season.

Two of the three hits she gave up to the Wolves came in the third inning with two outs, when WOU scored its only run. Kendra George doubled to left center then scored on a single by Tyler Sutherland.

Game 2
Meghan Kopczynski's solo home run in the second inning proved to be the difference as Lindy Baxter pitched a complete game three-hitter to complete the four-game sweep for Central Washington in a 1-0 win.

Pitcher Jessica Wood was the hard-luck loser for the Wolves. She made just the one mistake to Kopczynski, and finished the game with six hits and one walk allowed, to go along with two strike outs and the one earned run.

Kopczynski finished the contest 3-for-3 and Danielle Monson went 2-for-3 to account for five of the Wildcats' six hits.

Bailey Rueck notched two of the Wolves' three hits and Andrea Bailey added the other.

This was also the last game in a Wolves' uniform for seniors Jessie Lessard, Stephanie Albrecht, Tyler Sutherland, Miranda Little and Amanda Fleer.

Next games
Central Washington will go on to represent the GNAC in the NCAA West Regional, May 13-16. The site is yet to be determined.
